Bin-on-the-go
Travel bingo for kids on road trips and train rides. Spot it, mark it, shout Bingo!
Why I built it
My source of inspiration for engineering solutions is to address challenges — be it in my professional space or my personal life.
The other day, when my family — a couple + an 8-year-old — went for a longer-than-normal drive, my daughter was bored and we ran out of word games to play. And then… we stumbled across the idea of “Auto Bingo” (Auto = Car) — loosely translated, Bingo on the move.
So here it is: a simple, lightweight game — a bingo version of the objects you could come across on your journey.
How it works
Set up the trip — who's playing, where you're travelling (city, countryside, motorway or train), the card size and how many games.
Share the code. Everyone taps "Join a game" on their own phone and types it in. Three little pictures confirm you're all on the same card.
Spot it. Mark it. Shout Bingo! Tap a picture when you see it out of the window; complete a line to score.
Deliberately low-tech
I’ve tried to keep it as lightweight as possible, since the internet can turn choppy on the way. So — no sync between players, more voice-based trust, and so on.
Tip: save it to your phone’s home screen for an app-like experience.
Give it a shot and let me know how you feel.
